A Bit Of News We Have Today
The Everyday Heroes of East Suburban Resources
They get up every morning and most days go to their independent jobs in the community, join their ESR crew and put in a good shift of work for the employer, or arrive at the production center ready to engage in today’s project for a local business.
They are regular people who do an outstanding job and make a big difference in the lives of the people around them despite the challenges they face. They are our heroes!
Carnival Of Hope A Terrific Success!
Dellwood Country Club was the place to be on Friday November 8th for the Carnival of Hope…Pathway to the Future. Over 130 people came out to support ESR as we gathered to raise money for continued support of people with disabilities and their dreams of supported employment and community integration.
With a variety of games, raffles, live auctions, photo fun and more in a carnival atmosphere, accompanied by the marvelous music of Forest Lakes’ Charlie Ollmann’s Aces & 88’s Dueling Pianos, and Dellwood’s great food,--lots of fun and new friends were made . Minnesota Wild Hockey tickets, followed by a hockey/pizza party hosted by the Wild’s Nate Prosser, a boat cruise on Forest Lake which includes dinner for eight at Forest Lakes’ Acqua ,and a center court suite with meals and drinks for 20 at a Timberwolves game were just a few of the dazzling prizes.
ESR raised almost $25,000.00 through the generosity our outstanding benefactors, who pledged their continued support of a program that will be celebrating its’ remarkable 50th year in 2014. We are still accepting donations, hoping to reach the $30,000 mark of funded support.
East Suburban Resources wants to thank everyone who joined us at the Carnival of Hope and helped make the night a fun, wonderfully successful event for everyone!
ESR SELECTED TO SERVE ST. CROIX COUNTY AREA RESIDENTS
Patty Kemerling, Director of Provider Services for ContinuUs, announced today that ESR has been selected to replace St. Croix Industries as the provider of employment and day services for members from St. Croix County Wisconsin. ESR will immediately begin the transition planning process and expects to begin offering services from the New Richmond program center by March or April of 2014.
The program is an expansion of services that will benefit all consumers and bring greater efficiency to administrative functions of the Agency. Executive Director Ed Boeve expressed gratitude to ContinuUs staff, to members of the selection committee, and to ESR staff and Board who have participated enthusiastically in the selection process. Birders’ Select Birdseed Blends
Feeding the birds is providing job opportunities
Bird seed may be for for the birds, but it is providing employment opportunities for ESR consumers. Birders Select is mixed, packaged and labeled by adults with developmental disabilities who are served by ESR. The birdseed blends sport names like “Finch Fancy,” “Cardinal Diet,” and “Songbird Buffet,” making it easy to determine which feathered friends they seek to attract.
This project provides jobs for ESR consumers, and as many as a dozen individuals earn a wage preparing the seed blends in the agency's program sites.
To place your bird seed order directly with ESR, please call 651-351-0190, extension 10. Your order will be prepared and held at the ESR location nearest you (Forest Lake, Oakdale, Cottage Grove, Stillwater) until you are able to pick it up.
